Online Atelier
Series
Urban Roots’ Online Atelier was organized as a series of three interactive online sessions designed to reflect on and build upon the exploratory activities in Madrid, while preparing students for the final field school in Istanbul.
The ateliers brought students together in a collaborative digital space to synthesize field experiences, share insights, and develop collective understandings of urban agriculture and circularity. Through guided teamwork, participants connected observations from Madrid with broader academic, spatial, and policy perspectives.
As part of the atelier process, students took part in a circularity mapping exercise, working in teams to map food flows, waste cycles, social actors, ecological exchanges, and shared resources identified during the Madrid Learning Expedition. This process helped translate place-based experiences into systems-level thinking.
